Kirsten and Declan’s September wedding at The Barn at Barra, Aberdeenshire was such a special one for me as it was the first wedding I created using entirely dried flowers, and it couldn’t have been a more joyful introduction to this style.
The couple had travelled up from London to Kirsten’s home of Aberdeenshire to celebrate with family and friends, and they brought with them a relaxed, joyful energy that matched the day perfectly.
We created everything from buttonholes and bud vase centrepieces to a statement ceremony arch using dried blooms in pinks, peachy tones and warm oranges. The mix gave everything a gorgeous warmth against the rustic barn setting, full of colour and texture that felt fresh and full of life in its own way.
I had dried the vast majority of the flowers myself over the course of the summer, carefully saving and preparing each stem. In some cases, I was even able to reuse flowers from earlier weddings in the season, a small but meaningful way to reduce the environmental impact across my summer weddings.
There are so many reasons why a couple might choose dried flowers. They’re wonderfully long-lasting, meaning you can keep part of your day whether it's your bouquet, a buttonhole or a few stems from the tables. They’re also sustainable, and perfect for warm-weather or destination weddings where freshness can be tricky to maintain.

Kirsten’s creative flair carried through to the stationery too. She chose a playful hand-drawn design full of little icons that we colour-matched to her décor, from the candles and chair sashes to the signage. It tied everything together beautifully and added such a personal, joyful touch to the whole celebration.
Everything about this wedding just felt so them, vibrant, relaxed and full of heart. It was such a pleasure to bring it all to life and to see how dried flowers can create something both timeless and completely unique.
