A May Wedding Somewhere Over the Rainbow in Glen Clova

Some weddings stay with you long after the last stem has been snipped and arranged. This beautiful May wedding in Glen Clova for Emma and Mike is firmly one of my highlights of 2025 and for so many reasons.

From the moment I began the drive into the glen, I knew this one was going to be special. The weather shifted with every bend in the road, clouds lifting and rolling in again, until suddenly a full rainbow appeared and seemed to guide me all the way to Glen Clova Hotel. It honestly felt like something from a film.

A Floral Brief Made for Spring

The floral brief could not have suited the season or the setting more perfectly. Assorted seasonal flowers, wildflower style, multi colours in pastel shades with bright pops.

Think delicate spring blooms layered with playful colour, soft textures mixed with moments of boldness, and arrangements that felt relaxed and gathered rather than overly styled. Exactly the kind of flowers that feel at home in the Scottish countryside.

Morning Buzz and Flower Crown Excitement

The bridal party were all getting ready together in one of the lodges on site, which created such a lovely atmosphere. There was a real buzz of excitement as final touches were added.

The biggest smiles of the morning belonged to the flower girls, each of whom received a flower crown that they'd been so looking forward to!

Quiet Moments in Clova Kirk

Placing the ceremony flowers in Clova Kirk was one of those calm, grounding moments I always treasure. The stillness of the space, the soft light, and the simple beauty of seasonal flowers coming together made it feel quite magnificent. These quiet set up moments are often unseen, but they are some of my favourites.

Thoughtful Details at the Reception

After the ceremony, I stayed on to dress the tables. The couple had chosen gold hoops for their centrepieces, with floral wreaths designed to sit perfectly in the base of each one. The combination of soft wild flowers and warm metallic tones worked beautifully and tied everything together without overpowering the space.

A Wedding Weekend With a Rock and Roll Twist

A completely unexpected twist to this wedding weekend was that it coincided with Bonfest, the annual celebration honouring Bon Scott of AC/DC fame in his hometown of Kirriemuir.

You can imagine my surprise after leaving the peaceful calm of Glen Clova and suddenly finding myself driving through Kirrie surrounded by AC/DC fans in full festival mode. It was the most unexpected contrast to such a romantic, flower filled day!

Why This Wedding Will Always Stand Out

This wedding had everything I love about my work. A clear floral vision, seasonal flowers at their best, a breathtaking location, thoughtful details, and a couple who trusted the process. It was relaxed, joyful, and full of personality.

If you are dreaming of wild, seasonal wedding flowers that feel at home in the landscape around you, this Glen Clova celebration is a perfect example of just how special that can be.
